Toxoplasma and other Apicomplexan Parasites
Part 1: In this lecture, Roos describes the unique features of Apicomplexan parasites such as Toxoplasma and the malaria parasite, Plasmodium, and explains why Toxoplasma is a good model organism to study this group of protozoan parasites. A good lecture for undergraduates in a microbiology or parasitology class or medical students.
Part 2: The apicoplast is an organelle unique to apicomplexan parasites. The discovery of the apicoplast, its evolutionary origins, its unique genome, proteins and function are detailed in this lecture. This lecture is suitable for graduate students in microbiology or parasitology.
